Neon Streams
Neon Streams creates immersive electronic soundscapes where Nordic Noir meets dreamy ambient textures. It is an ongoing artistic collaboration between Nicholas Sillitoe and Norwegian electronic music producer Even Sarucco (aka EvenS).
Nicholas and Even began working together in the summer of 2020, co-producing tracks for Anne Marie Almedal’s solo album We Dance Alone (+47). Instantly inspired and connected by their rewarding work on Almedal’s dream-pop electronic release, the pair decided to continue their alliance, focusing on a new electronic music venture: Neon Streams.
In similar fashion to Nicholas Sillitoe’s post-classical project Nicholas & Sebastian, +47 pitched the Neon Streams concept to Universal Music Production’s label Nordic ID, and the pair were immediately signed up, and commissioned to create music on their own terms. The simple premise: to create resplendent, film-friendly Nordic noir electronica.
“Scandinavian Skyline”, their debut album, as well as the key singles, “Look Up To The Stars” and “Phosphene” were all released on digital streaming platforms worldwide, throughout 2022.
In their Neon Streams bubble, Nicholas and Even produce all their material at the EvenS studio space, in a decommissioned military barrack, in Odderøya; a peninsula just outside the city centre of Kristiansand.
Come rain or shine, storm or snow, whenever they find an opportunity amidst their busy schedules, Nicholas and Even just switch on the machines, let their heads go off in the clouds, and lose themselves in an improvised haze of ambient music- making. Their raison d’être is simple: to deliberately use minimal equipment — synthesizers, processed samples, and ample tape machine saturation — and deliver rich libraries of imaginary soundtrack narratives.
Several tracks on their debut album Scandinavian Skyline feature guest vocals from Anne Marie Almedal, including the sparkling single “Look Up To The Stars”, and the cerebral “Mission Granularis”, where Almedal’s voice shimmers amidst Neon Streams’ electronic “glo-fi” sounds.
In late 2022, Neon Streams began work on their next album Midnight Sun, a continuation of their production journey, with the key single “Everything Will Change”. Have a listen here!
Autumn 2023 saw the release of “Closer”, featuring Stellatron (aka Stella Marie Sillitoe) from The Breadheads — a gorgeous one-off dream-pop collaboration between Neon Streams and Nicholas Sillitoe's daughter. “Closer” was accompanied by a lush video directed by Vilde Finstad Dahlen.
In summer/autumn 2024, Neon Streams returned with a series of deep “double A” single releases. “Ataraxia / Nowhere Sounds Perfect”, “High Windows / Glow With The Flow”, and “Diamond Dust / Ghostinato” — all teasers for the stunning latest album Kontrapunkt, released 20 September 2024.
Whether syncing perfectly with film and TV or inviting listeners to pause and drift, Neon Streams offers a sonic escape — atmospheric, emotional, and unmistakably Nordic.
